The Easter bunny is shown here taking a break after hiding about 400 eggs in the yard at Strand's
It all started about 20 years ago when Tony Wood began hiding Easter Eggs in his family’s back yard for his young kids. As the years went by, the hunt got bigger and better. Soon his kids were joined by their friends and neighbours; and the annual Easter Egg hunt became a family tradition.
Although the tradition carried on at the Wood household almost until the kids were in their twenties, Tony eventually opened the hunt to the public and moved the eggstravaganza (sic) to the yard at Strand’s Restaurant.
“I usually put out between three and four hundred eggs,” he said, adding that the grounds keepers usually find a few leftovers during their clean up duties throughout the year.
The annual tradition will continue this year with an Easter Sunday hunt at the downtown Invermere restaurant. “The idea is you can come have dinner at Strand’s and watch the kids collecting eggs outside,” Tony said.
To make reservations or find out more information call the restaurant at 342-6344.
