Fluffy warm waffles topped with chocolate, maple syrup and fresh fruit; omelets prepared before your eyes by a chef; carved meats; a salad bar big enough make an entire flock of rabbits happy for days…and that’s just the beginning.
Anyone who’s been to the Lakeside Pub’s Sunday brunch knows that it’s a spread of Royal proportions. As Lakeside owner and chef Guido Hochheiden put it, after attending one of the weekly feasts you’ll only need to eat dinner that day. “It’s a two meal day,” he joked.
The Sunday feature has been a long-standing, well-attended gorge-fest frequented by locals and valley visitors alike. Perched on the shores of Lake Windermere at James Chabot Beach, the pub is known for the quality and quantity of food it puts out, paired with the personal service provided.

“Eighty per cent of the items are all from scratch, it’s not like we open up a package and put it on the table,” Hochheiden noted.
After creating a main course at the waffle or omelet station, then adding any of the standard brunch staples including bacon, sausage, eggs Benedict and a starch, most palettes would be placated. However the Lakeside brunch also provides muscles, soup and veggies; plus croissants, buns and an extensive variety of house-made desserts.
“We get quite a few regulars,” Hochheiden noted, “it shows me we’re doing something right.”
The weekly brunch, which also includes tea or coffee, is available every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $17.95. Seniors receive a 15% discount, however minors are not allowed in the pub accept in a small patio area which is open during the summer months.
