July-August, Invermere –
College of the Rockies Invermere Campus and the Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council is inviting kids to fill their summer days with fun and excitement in one (or more) of our fantastic summer camps. There is something for everyone this summer… from the film enthusiast to the video game fanatic.
This hot summer lineup includes 5 camps scheduled throughout July and August allowing kids to enjoy some fun summer learning. Kicking off the camp schedule is the Way Cooler Gamer School running July 6 – 10. This camp teaches kids 9 – 13 years old to build their very own video games! Instruction will include designing characters, objects, and levels. Be sure to bring your imagination!
Reach for the top with our Rock Climbing Camp July 8 – 10. This three day camp will provide kids 11 – 14 with one day of indoor rock climbing instruction, teaching basic climbing techniques, proper equipment use, knot tying and belay skills. This will be followed by two days of thrilling outdoor climbing.
Join COTR & the Purcell Mountain Bike School for Roll Camp July 20 – 24. This multi environment camp will help those 8 – 12 work on the fundamentals of cross-country mountain biking and gain rad skills on their bike in the skate park. After 3 days of biking, grab your deck and hit the park for a 2 day skateboarding camp. Kids will need their own equipment including: bike, skateboard, helmet and other protective gear.
Roll out the red carpet for your movie premiere! Get started our Not Another Teen Movie School for those 11 – 16. During this creative hands-on week you explore the basics of making movies, directing, and editing. Experience is not necessary, equipment is provided (digital video cameras), and you get the chance to create a movie of your own inspired by your favorite extreme, action or comedy flick!
Our summer camps close out Aug 10 – 14 with RoboCamp. This camp, for kids 8-12 introduces you to the world of robotic technology and provides hands-on experience. Bring virtual and reality together by discovering the basics of programming, engineering, and construction so you can create a robot and program software that brings it to life. Who ever thought science would be so cool?
Each camp is $195, and kids should bring their own lunch and snacks each day. Camp activities run from 9am – 4pm daily and early registration is recommended as camps are filling up quickly.
