While official figures have not yet been tallied since the 2009 Relay for Life set up shop at David Thompson Secondary last weekend, the annual event is known to have raised tens of thousands of dollars for Cancer research.
Walkers, joggers, cyclists and strollers made their way around the school’s running track for hours, while musicians, information booths and a variety of other entertainment was set up on the grassy field within the ring. As the event lasted a full 24-hours, teams set up base camps within the field area from which relay participants staged their stroll.
The final fundraising figures are expected to be released in the next day or so, so check back for an update soon.
