Introduction to eco-psychology: learning to think naturally.
Coming this Tuesday is a workshop that will encourage you to begin to think in a more natural way. Just because you are out in nature doesn’t mean you know how to communicate and build a healthy relationship with nature.
Eco-Psychology is the study of the human connection to nature. More specifically how NOT thinking in line with nature is the root of most of our society’s runaway disorders, unhappiness and feelings of lack of fulfillment.
This introduction to eco-psych (also known as Deep Ecology) will be closely based on Dr. Cohen’s award winning Natural Thinking Process Systems work. Dr. Cohen’s eco-psychology work was established in the 50s and has since been the focus of many supportive scientific studies.
This 8 hour workshop is perfect for anyone who LOVES being outside in nature and wants to understand another way of thinking that is more in line with nature.
We will begin to discuss:
- Why humans NEED to be in constant contact with real nature (not movies or pictures) and what happens when we are not.
- How it’s possible to be in nature and still NOT think naturally.
- How we’ve been TRAINED to think of nature as a RESOURCE and not a source and why that’s not healthy or sustainable.
We will learn some simple techniques to:
- Reestablish a more BALANCED natural way of thinking
- Deal with STRESS
- Feel more alive & SENSUOUS
- Discover how to become aware of more than 5 senses, we were born with over 53 ways to sense.
This is not a theory course, we will be doing hands-on experimental work in the form of nature connect activities. Come prepared to be outside, so bring appropriate attire. You will also need a pen, paper/journal and water. Come willing to learn a new way of thinking and have some interesting conversations with like mind people.
Tuesday July 7th to Friday July 10th, mornings 9-11, Pynelogs Cultural Centre
