Travel delays on Trans-Canada near Field

Emergency rock scaling on the Field Hill on the Trans Canada Highway in Yoho National Park.
What’s Happening?
Rock Scaling on the Field Hill on the TCH just East of the Spiral Tunnels View Point is beginning today, July 16, 2009. The work is expected to last for at least 2 weeks and full or partial closures and delays of up to 20 minutes are anticipated. Updated information will be sent out as it becomes available.
Why is this being done?
Rock along the Field Hill has become unstable and is being removed immediately to ensure public safety.
What does this mean for you and our visitors?
Parks Canada appreciates the patience of motorists while this work is being completed. Public safety is a top priority for Parks Canada and we are taking immediate action to ensure that rock fall will not pose a threat to passing motorists
