Invermere RCMP incidents, Oct 28 – Nov 1

2009 Oct 28.
Columbia Valley Detachment received a complaint of fraud when a cheque was stolen and the suspect made the cheque out for $2500. The victim in this instance supplied the police with a possible suspect and the complaint is presently being investigated.
Oct 29
An alert neighbour in Edgewater observed some suspicious activity and prevented a theft of a Quad. As a result of observing theses activities the Police were contacted. Investigation revealed a nearby house had been broken into and keys for a Quad was taken. The Quad was seen to be driven in the area and was later located hidden in the bush ready for eventual pick up. The alert neighbour was able to provide police with a good suspect vehicle description.
Oct 30 0530 hrs
Columbia Valley Detachment Members responded to a disturbance at the Best Western that involved a 76 year old male from Creston and a 43 year old female from Erickson. Both were booked in the same room. An argument broke out and both ended up fighting and causing minor injuries to each other. Medical treatment was not necessary. Both refused to indicate to the police what had happened. The investigation is continuing to determine if charges will be entertained.
Oct 31
Columbia Valley Detachment recieved a complaint of a 2 door low rider sports vehicle with two males in the vehicle point a rifle out the vehicle on the hwy and fire two shots. The complainant believe the males may have been shooting at an animal that was seen in the area.
Nov 1 1330 hrs
Columbia Valley Detachment Members attended to a distraght 23 year old male who appeared to drive his vehicle off the road on Toby Creek Rd. The male recieved minor head injuries, non life threatening and was taken to the hospital.
