Boulder mountain avalanche claims a life and injures 12.

At 3:33 pm on Saturday March 13th 2010, the Revelstoke RCMP received reports of an avalanche occurring on Boulder Mountain near Revelstoke, during a snowmobile competition attended by approximately 200 persons in the area. A large scale rescue operation commenced and is continuing. [Read more]

I didn’t know.
I have a couple of stories on Thor, a police dog from my younger days.
After a bit of a chase with a suspect we were finally able to catch up to him and remove him out of his car. The male was not obliging in the arrest and as a result about three of us were trying to gain some control over him.
The dog man arrived and he jumped out to give us a hand. Thor (police dog) will normally mind his own business unless given the command to act but in the commotion that he was witnessing at his eye level (the knees) all he could see was a struggle and his master was in trouble. 2010 Feb 26.
Columbia Valley Detachment responded to a break and enter complaint of a condo at Lake Windermere Point. TV, DVD, food and liquor were stolen.
Feb 27 0230.
Columbia Valley Detachment members responded to a disturbance in the 200 block 3rd Ave at a private residence. An adult female had attended the residence intoxicated and a physical altercation took place. On police attendance a friend came forward and assisted the police by taking the female away from the scene. No charges. [Read more]

Revelstoke bank robbery suspect arrested.
Revelstoke RCMP.
At 4:00 p.m. today, police received a report that the Revelstoke branch of the CIBC had been the victim of a robbery. The suspect entered the bank and produced a note which made reference to a firearm. An undisclosed amount of money was turned over to the suspect who then fled on foot. The description of the suspect given was a man dressed up as a woman. [Read more]

Columbia Valley Detachment received a complaint of a disturbance on the ice near the 500 block of Lakeview. Police attended the area and located two adult females on shore and were arguing about a golf cart going through the ice. The females were not hurt and advised to retrieve the cart in the morning.

Unique snowmobiles stolen in Revelstoke

Thieves in Revelstoke stole a truck and trailer with some unique snowmobiles belonging to Alpine Motorsports of Salmon Arm.

An early morning theft netted thieves some very expensive snowmobiles. Sometime between 8:00 p.m., February 12th, 2010 and February 13th, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. a Ford F350 with a sled trailer, carrying 7 sleds, was stolen from behind the Mountianview Motel.

A 40 year old male was arrested and charged with breach of an undertaking as a result of contacting a person he was under condition not to contact.
Feb 9 – 2148 hrs.
Columbia Valley Detachment responded to an assault complaint in the 1700 block of Sinclair. Two adult females got into a physical altercation. Both parties were spoken to with no charges recommended. [Read more]
Hiker finds body on Mt McKenzie

Revelstoke hiker stumbles upon human remains.
Revelstoke RCMP.
On February 11th, 2010, a local resident was hiking on Mt McKenzie and located what he believed to be human remains. Police were able to access the site and confirmed the presence of an unidentified adult male. Investigation to date shows that it does appear as if the male has been there for some time. The cause of death is not known at this time. Investigator’s believe they know the indentity of the male however a positive identification will need to take place to confirm this belief.
