Vehicle impoundment as a penalty --
Wed 9:30 pm (DriveSmartBC) - Believe it or not, the "new" warn category was created in 1977, and yes, in my experience, people with that BAC do call attention to themselves by their driving behaviour. The "new" portable digital breath testing equipment has been in use in BC since 1988. I was trained in 1991. By random I meant ...Vehicle impoundment as a penalty --
Wed 8:45 pm (Shanna) - DriveSmartBC --- if you read between the lines you may notice that they have created a new "warn" category from 0.05% to the current legal limit of 0.08%. But people with that amount of alcohol in their body do not usually show signs of impairment that would draw attention to them by their driving. And ...Vehicle impoundment as a penalty --
Wed 2:20 pm (DriveSmartBC) - We don't have random breath testing in Canada yet, so if you have not been drinking there is no way you can be forced to provide a breath sample nor be charged for failing to provide one. The non-drinking part of the public isn't going to be inconvenienced because they won't be tested. The drinking ...Environmental stewardship of BC parks lacking --
Wed 12:17 pm (David R Pacey) - It might do well for British Columbia to have some one to look into the lack of funding and maintenance for our Federal Parks as well as the provincial coffers and spending or lack of spending. We know the provincial coffers are dry as shown by the current and past deficits and also the Federal deficit ...Vehicle impoundment as a penalty --
Wed 9:20 am (Lynn) - I agree with Shanna about the government being unwilling to give up their revenues from the alcohol business. The thing is, people see that fact and have come to distrust the government's motives. they say one thing and do something else. The same thing applies to the tobacco industry - government forces ...
Vehicle impoundment as a penalty
September 2, 2010 - Behind the Wheel -- The use of vehicle impoundment as part of an array of penalties to discourage improper driving behaviour will expand significantly when amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act become law on September 20, 2011. In every case the cost of the impoundment will be the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle. If the owner was not the driver at the time, they may recover costs from the driver as a debt in any court of competent jurisdiction. (14 comments)
- Tue 1:41 pm (DriveSmartBC) - Shanna, you complain about the Government not using the best tools at hand, but you do not expand on what those tools are. I'm very curious to know what your better way would be.

BC gets tough on drinking and driving
September 6, 2010 - The government of British Columbia is determined to catch the impaired drivers on the province’s roads and to accomplish this Herculean task, is about to implement on September 20, 2010 what will be the toughest legislation in the country. Sometimes obeying the law can be dangerous
July 31, 2010 - Behind the Wheel -- Limited speed motorcycles on the highway shoulder. I applaud the green attitude of those people who ride a limited speed motorcycle (LSM) for their trips on BC highways. Surely their carbon footprint is a lot lighter than my own. That and their wallet will be heavier as these motorcycles are economical to buy, license and operate. (8 comments)

Government must comply with Recall and Initiative Act — Elections BC
May 17, 2010 - Response to Colin Hansen. by Dean Skoreyko. Finance Minister Colin Hansen says that he's upset Elections BC "decided it would be inappropriate" for the government to send out taxpayer-funded mail outs to BC residents at the same time that the petition initiative is underway in this province. This sounds as though Elections BC has made a political decision, when it hasn't. All it is doing is following the letter of law. (3 comments)
