About Columbia Valley News
As permanent residents of the Columbia Valley, we have always felt that there was something lacking when it comes to the communication, discussion, and quick resolution to some of the issues that we face in this beautiful valley of ours. There is just not the ability, in a weekly newspaper, to respond promptly to articles that capture our interest. From the time an article is published to the time a reader can respond, the issue may have become “old news”. In this fast-paced world in which we live today, there simply is no time to dilly-dally around with those concerns which profoundly impact our lives here in the Columbia Valley.
So, we asked ourselves the question, “how can we change that”? The answer was three-fold:
- Provide a website like this where all residents of the Columbia Valley, full-time or part-time, can visit on a daily basis to read about what’s happening “now” and respond immediately with useful comments, ideas or concerns.
- Offer citizens the ability to contribute their own content by way of authorship – write their own columns about whatever interests them, share their thoughts about life, or hammer down their opinions on a pressing issue.
- With our readers, build an online community which we can all be proud to call our own.
So, we’re now an online-only, “instant” news, events & activities guide for the Columbia Valley, extending as far as Golden to the north and Cranbrook to the south. We are much like other “paper” papers that operate in the region, just without the paper. Along with current news and events, we offer an extensive business directory, live webcam section, free job postings, free classifieds, an interactive area map & more.
We are committed to posting articles, stories, statements and letters which are fact-based and without slander or personal attacks.
