The visitor centre will be open during the Christmas/New Year’s season as follows:

• 8:30 – 4:30 pm December 22-23
• 8:30 – 1:00pm December 24
• CLOSED December 25, 26, 27
• 8:30 – 4:30 pm December 28-31
• CLOSED January 1, 2, 3

Snowflake Ball

Members and non-members alike are invited to the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Snowflake Ball on Saturday, December 5th at the Lions Hall.

Every year, the Snowflake Ball announces to the Columbia Valley that the Holiday social season has begun in earnest. It’s time to dust off the dancing duds once again. Cranbrook Chamber hosts luncheon for Campbell

Premier Gordon Campbell will be in Cranbrook on Thursday, September 10, where he will attend a Chamber of Commerce luncheon to talk about the 2009 provincial budget and discuss where British Columbia is today and the government’s vision for the future.

The luncheon will take place at the Prestige Inn in Cranbrook from 11:30 to 1:00 (registration at 11:15 am). Non-Chamber members are welcome but must reserve a place by noon the day before (September 9).

CVCC and Visitor Centre summer hours

The CVCC and Visitor Centre summer hours of operation are effective immediately and will continue through to the Labour Day Weekend in September:

Monday through Saturday
8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Sunday and Statutory Holidays
9:00 am – 5:30 pm

The CVCC is once again sponsoring a Downtown Tourist Information Service which is located in front of Invermere One Hour Photo Foto Source on 7th Avenue. This service will be available from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Friday and 9:30 am to 4:00 pm Saturday – during inclement weather, this service will be provided from the Visitor Centre. During inclement weather, this service will be provided at the Visitor Centre at 651 Hwy 93/95.  A special thank you to Wayne Rossington for letting us utilize his property, and to Wendy Jansen for providing the space to store our furnishings and materials during off-hours.

Seminar to teach scam spotting

June 10, Invermere –

If you’ve ever wondered who to call to report an investment scam, or maybe you’re curious what’s considered a scam and what isn’t, then the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce has the perfect answer for you.

The local business organization will be hosting a special luncheon meeting at the Lion’s Hall, which will answer those questions and many more. In an email invitation the Chamber notes that it’s not a regularly scheduled Chamber meeting, nor is it an investment solicitation event. Simply — it’s just answers.

Along with Columbia Valley RCMP Sgt. Marco Shehovac, who will be giving a presentation on senior’s fraud, two corporate finance experts will be on hand to discuss smart investing. [Read more]
