Record-breaking flight plan filed, departing from the North Pole.
NAV CANADA reports that a flight plan for an aircraft departing the North Pole on December 24, 2009 has been filed with millions of destinations in Canada and around the world.
They say they have not handled a flight plan of this size for about a year noting that this breaks the record that was set on December 24-25 2008 by a Mr. K Kringle.
The company does not reveal the identity of pilots filing flight plans but an unnamed source confirmed that it is Mr. Kringle. “The paperwork says Kris Kringle, but everyone knows him as Santa Claus,” said the NAV CANADA source speaking on the condition of anonymity. [Read more]

While they adjusted their jerseys, helmets and jocks.
With Shedden, Moen & Belanger all dressed up in their suits,
The broadcast team settled down in their cozy warm booth. [Read more]

A chilly breeze did not cool the hearts or voices of the impromptu choir welcoming the CP Holiday Train to the harmonies of Silent Night.
The thermometer said -23 but we were sure it must be much colder as the parking attendant directed us into the parking area near the railroad crossing on Forester Road. There were about 80 to 100 cars parked at the roadside and just about everywhere else. A group of school-aged children were singing carols and people were huddled around roaring bonfires, sipping free hot chocolate and eating hot dogs and hamburgers. The air was electric with excitement as everyone waited for the sound of the CPR Holiday Train in the distance. [Read more]
