From the S/Sgt’s Desk –
I didn’t know.
I have a couple of stories on Thor, a police dog from my younger days.
After a bit of a chase with a suspect we were finally able to catch up to him and remove him out of his car. The male was not obliging in the arrest and as a result about three of us were trying to gain some control over him.
The dog man arrived and he jumped out to give us a hand. Thor (police dog) will normally mind his own business unless given the command to act but in the commotion that he was witnessing at his eye level (the knees) all he could see was a struggle and his master was in trouble. Or so he thought. [Read more]

The weekend of the Bootleg Sled Dog Races at Bootleg Gap Golf Course in Kimberley dawned with perfect conditions on the trail, easy and smooth, even better than last year. With the trend toward warmer weather, however, the organizers of the 2-day event made the decision to start the races an hour earlier than previously scheduled, hoping to run the races before the trail conditions began to deteriorate with expected warm temperatures. It proved to be a good decision and the trail was great. The huge crowd of excited spectators cheered on the race teams and great fun was had by everyone, including the dogs! [Read more]

Invermere’s beloved dog control officer is back on the job.
Carol Dobson and her husband, John, moved from Invermere to the Coast two years ago, when they decided they needed a new adventure in their lives. But the old saying that there’s no place like home, was proven true and they soon realized that their hearts were here among family and friends. They returned to Invermere early this month, bringing along with them a menagerie of dogs, a goat, a pig and a flock of chickens!
Luckily, Carol was able to move back into her old position of canine control right away and we are so happy to see her smiling face once again. [Read more]
Atty absolutely loves her stuffed animals

Atty is a 7.5 month old Boston Terrier/Pug cross, aka a BUG! Atty is very high energy and requires a family that is able to provide both physical and mental stimulation for her. She is very smart but also has a wee stubborn side to her. Atty is crate trained, but requires more training as she is a pup, after all!
Atty adores other dogs, but can play a bit rough with the toy breeds. She isn’t too fussed with cats unless it means play time! She likes to fetch the ball and absolutely loves her stuffed animals.
Available for foster…
