There’s not much the District of Invermere can do about a prominent building project in the municipality that’s been sitting unfinished for months.
The Purcell Point townhome project, overlooking Invermere’s downtown core between 9th and 12th Streets on 10th Ave., has been under construction for approximately two years. While parts of the multi-building project are finished, and even occupied, there are still large sections that have been left to weather throughout the winter and into summer. [Read more]

The 2009 BC Hydro Power Smart Excellence Award in the builder/developer category went to Columere Park Developments owners David and Donna Rae for their Spirits Reach development on the west side of Columbia Lake. As BC Hydro says in their announcement: “At Spirits Reach, Columere Park Developments reached for Power Smart Gold—and came up a winner.” [Read more]

In the Columbia Valley, just south of the Invermere junction, between Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Hot Springs, there are two golf courses and a hotel development that carry the Copper Point name. Proposed Grizzly Ridge boundary expansion

The District of Invermere held an open house this Tuesday, February 3 to explain the Grizzly Ridge boundary expansion proposal. It is important to note that this is a general statement of intent and not a final plan. The opportunity for expansion is due to a large piece of property, owned by one company that is going through a development process. Grizzly Ridge, with the existing zoning, could break the property into 12 large lots of 60 hectares or just under 150 acres. These lots could then be sold off to 12 different owners and therefore the district feels that they may have a better chance of dealing with one owner now rather than 12 different ones later.
